Vanessa Wylie ’99 of Greenhouse Society
I live and work in an old house in Milton, VT, with a printshop in the basement. I spend time growing plants and poking around in forests and waterways. My work is based on layers of growth… patterns formed over time. I start with a simple gesture or mark and repeat it over and over, letting the medium and my relative level of attentiveness influence the formation of the image—as wind, sun, fire, or a huge rock or pathogen might influence a tree, a patch of lichen, or a shelf mushroom.
