Working on wood lends me so much freedom, & flexibility, with integrity. It allows me to achieve more layering, color saturation, contrast, & boldness not commonly found in traditional watercolor paintings – while still embracing its lovely translucency, ability to move, wash, & blend.
Gloriosa daisies steal the show surrounded by fuchsia globosa, & even more color, & pattern in the foliage.
Opulent striking color. Inspired by a day at Maine Botanical Gardens.
For the frame poplar is chosen instead of actual oak to make it lighter for hanging on the wall.
Painting is sprayed; archival UV & water resistant.
Painted & hand framed in Bath Maine.
